Support for Sport is our priority: young hockey players from the Nizhny Novgorod Region have become a sensation
At the Third All-Russia Field Hockey Tournament for the Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia Cup and Awards, held at Red Square in Moscow at the beginning of March, the bronze medal was won by the Nizhny Novgorod Region team of boys (born in 2001 - 2002) from the ‘Olimpiysky’ (Balakhna) Sport and Recreation Centre. The boys’ team faced very strong contenders - 7 of the 8 teams participating in the tournament are coached in special sports schools under the auspices of players from Premier League teams.
It is worth mentioning that there was a difficult selection process for young sportsmen (at regional and district levels) which preceded the All-Russia Children’s Hockey Tournament. During this selection the youngsters proved that they truly deserved to represent the Volga Federal District in the finals in Moscow.

However, this is not the first important victory of the “Nizhny Novgorod Gladiators” as rivals have called the Balakhna citizens, after watching their performance. This is the second year that the youngsters have won medals and demonstrated their sports-related skills at the Children’s Hockey League Championship in Ulyanovsk . Some members of the team also participate successfully in major competitions with the Nizhny Novgorod senior teams.

The hockey players born in 2003 - 2004 are able to match their older teammates. They fought and defeated their opponents in the tournament commemorating the third anniversary of the ‘Olimpiysky’ Sport and Recreation Centre.
It is surprising that these young hockey players from a small provincial town have succeeded in achieving such impressive sports results in just three years. A lot of the credit must go to the players themselves, their parents and their trainers: Igor Agapov, Alexey Bochkarev and Vladimir Yakushenko. However, hockey, like any other event, needs to be sponsored: professional outfits and accessories, regular participation in competitions held in other Russian cities, decent training conditions - all these components of sporting success are aimed at gaining new victories and promoting a bright sporting future for the boys. The TNS Energo Group provides the ‘Olimpiysky’ Sport and Recreation Centre team with everything they need.

The TNS Energo Group has consistently supported Russian sport, whether it be high-level record-breaking, regional hockey, football and basketball clubs or sports schools for children and young people. In particular, GC TNS Energo cooperates effectively with the Skating Union of Russia and it is proud of our team’s achievements in international competitions. The power sales companies which are part of the Group actively sponsor sports in their own regions: JSC Nizhegorodskaya sbytovaya is a sponsor of the Torpedo Hockey Club, while Evgeny Severgin, the Managing Director of JSC Voronezhskaya sbytovaya, holds the honorary office of President of the Fakel Football Club.
